Job Description

Job Summary

The Air and Ocean Import Specialist is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end import process for both air and ocean freight. This includes managing documentation, coordinating with international partners and domestic service providers, and ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory bodies. The position demands strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and the capability to handle high-volume accounts with accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete import process for air and ocean shipments.
  • Review and process essential shipping documents such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and entry summaries.
  • Coordinate with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to monitor and trace incoming freight.
  • Ensure prompt clearance and delivery of cargo, adhering to all U.S. Customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Address and resolve any discrepancies or delays in the logistics chain, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Prepare quotes, manage profit margins, and ensure accurate billing and invoicing.
  • Maintain shipment files in line with company procedures and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Customs, Sales, and Warehousing, to meet customer needs.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to continuous improvement in operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in international freight forwarding, with a strong focus on both air and ocean imports.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. import regulations, including Customs procedures and documentation.
  • Experience using CargoWise is preferred.
